MIAMI ? With just three games remaining on the regular season schedule, the Troy Trojans face FIU on Thursday at U.S. Century Bank Arena in Sun Belt action.
Troy (17-10, 12-3 SBC) enters the game on a league-best 10 game winning streak that is also the third longest streak in the country. The Trojans have won 12 of their last 13 games.
Four Trojans scored in double figures to lead their team past FIU, despite a double-double by Freddy Asprilla. Troy set a school record by hitting 18-of-19 free throws in the contest that they won by a final score of 69-62 on January 3 at Trojan Arena.
The Golden Panthers (10-17, 5-9 SBC) are led offensively by senior shooter Alex Galindo (15.8 ppg). FIU has recently welcomed back big man Russell Hicks and point guard Josue Soto, but lost Asprilla to injury. Hicks was a preseason all-SBC pick this season.
Troy is led by Brandon Hazzard's 16.2 ppg and Richard Delk's 13.9 ppg. Guard Michael Vogler leads the league with 147 assists and center Tom Jervis is second in the league with 53 blocks. Hazzard is the reigning three-time Sun Belt Player of the Week.
Hazzard, a junior from Atlanta, set a career-high with 35 points last time out in Troy's victory over perennial Sun Belt power Western Kentucky last Saturday at Trojan Arena.
Thursday's game is set to start at 6 pm central time. Following the game with FIU, Troy will enjoy an off night on Saturday before attempting revenge against Louisiana Lafayette next Thursday.
Barry McKnight will bring you all the action from courtside against the Golden Panthers on the Troy ISP Network.
