TROY, Ala. - The Troy University women's tennis team will venture to Auburn this weekend for the 2009 ITA Fall Southern Regional at the Yarborough Tennis Center, beginning on Friday morning.
The Trojans, who have participated in two fall tournaments, will conclude their fall portion of the schedule against the likes of Auburn, UAB, Alabama, LSU, Louisiana-Lafayette, ULM, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Tulane and Samford.
"We are thrilled to host the ITA Southern Regional this weekend," Auburn head coach Tim Gray said. "We have an extremely strong field for the tournament. Whoever wins this regional will have a great chance to win the ITA National Indoor Tournament in November."
The Trojans will enter the tournament fresh after having two weeks off since the conclusion of the UNF Fall Invitational in Jacksonville, Florida the week of October 9.
They will need it as the tournament starts Friday with 32 singles matches and 16 doubles matches, followed on Saturday by the quarterfinals, semifinals on Sunday and the championship round on Monday.
Karoline Grymel, Emma Smith, Gabriella Veiga and Leonie Guijt all have their first round opponent set; while Stephanie Vieira must await her opponent between two opponents playing in a play-in match.
