TROY - The Troy University Women's Soccer Program has experienced many first this season but none more exciting than training with Gary Green, Head Women's Soccer Coach of English Premier League Side, Bristol Academy WFC.
Bristol Academy WFC is currently in the quarterfinals of the FA Cup, coming off a strong result against Watford LFC. In his tenure, Green has led the side to three FA Cup semifinals, and has established them as one of the few contenders for the league that is dominated by perennial power Arsenal LFC.
“The facilities for female athletes at this University are far superior to those back home. The girls are enthusiastic about their football, and have great chemistry which is a credit to not only the girls, but the coaching staff as well. The coaching staff has created an environment that will surely breed success,” Green said.
Troy coach Chris Bentley was grateful to have the opportunity to allow such a well-respected coach to work with his squad.
“This is an experience that few teams at any level can ever say they have had, and for our student-athletes to have that ? it's an extreme honor. To be able to have a coach of this caliber around has been amazing for players and staff alike,” Bentley said.
