"Gladiator" was the soundtrack of Sunday evening. And tonight I find myself listening to the greatest makers of music in the history of mankind...better than Elvis...better than The Beatles...better than U2...I'm of course speaking of Don Henley, Glenn Frey, Joe Walsh, and Timothy B. Schmit (Excluding: Don Felder, Randy Meisner, and Bernie Leadon seeing as how they are no longer with the band) also known as...THE Eagles..."Get Over It" was one of their hits, and i'll be telling myself that a lot these next few weeks. It's hot - Get over it. I'm tired - Get over it. "Your momma's too thin, and your daddy's too fat" - Get over it.
We had a pretty cool Media Relations "symposium" today on how to talk to the media. Tony Barnhardt, from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution came and talked to us on the subject, as well as WSFA-12's Jeff Shearer. It was a good experience for the guys to see what it's like to be interviewed, and how to avoid reporters with a chip on their shoulder type situations...talking good about your team...and just being a good person.
Meetings and practices kick into gear tomorrow. I remember Chuck (Ash) saying that it's not unrealistic that the real athletes, offensive linemen, have to consume roughly 10,000 to 11,000 calories a day to MAINTAIN weight during camp. He didn't say the athlete part, but, we linemen know where the real studs are. People think we linemen can just eat and eat and eat...and we can...and do...but 10,000 calories is a lot of food. But, I don't mind. He also told us we better have cookies and ice cream in our hands when we walk out of the cafe...don't have to tell me twice.
Finally, I'm starting the "Wes Potter for Heisman" Campaign. I even made a graphic for aesthetics. Make sure you show your support.
