Trojans Fall In Front of Record Crowd, 11-0

“It was phenomenal to have that kind of support. We'll be writing a lot of thank you notes to the groups and organizations that helped give us the great crowd tonight. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you,” head coach Melanie Davis said.
The Trojans (24-18) managed just four base runners and only one hit in the six inning contest.
“We knew we had to have a complete performance to have a chance and obviously we didn't perform,” she said.
Felicia Hammer picked up
Ashlyn Williams (now 20-11) took the loss for the Trojans, surrendering six runs (four earned) in four innings of work. She struck out five and walked three.
Cassie Lassiter tossed two innings in relief, allowing five unearned runs.
“We knew we had to catch and break and we thought we had one with Heidi out in the outfield, but we didn't get the break. It was all downhill after the home run,”
“It was just more of what seems like the story of the year for us with the unearned runs. I was very disappointed in our defense.”
The Crimson Tide added another run in the second, followed up by two more in the third inning and a five-run sixth inning invoked the run rule.

The Trojans now turn their attention to North Texas who visits Troy for a three-game Sun Belt Conference series starting with a doubleheader on Saturday at 2 pm. Admission to all home softball games is free.
