Troy, Ala.-
Former Troy Offensive lineman Zarah Yisrael was
selected as the number one overall draft pick for the newly formed All-American
Football League.
Yisrael was selected by Team Arkansas,
which is based out of Little Rock.
“I was excited about getting an opportunity to get back on
the field and be part of a team,” Yisrael said. “I have been working hard and
preparing and I am ready to compete.”
Yisrael is not stranger to preparation. In 2006, he set a
NFL combine record after bench pressing 225 pounds 48 times.
“I feel good and I am ready to get out there,” Yisrael said.
“We start training camps March 15 and I am just excited about the opportunity I
have been given.”
Yisrael came to Troy from
NAIA school Iowa Wesleyan University
and earned a starting role on the offensive line late in 2004.
He started three games for the Trojans in 2004, and started
all 11games in 2005.
