Trojans Travel to Dothan for Wiregrass Classic

DOTHAN, Ala.- The Troy Trojans bring their five-game win streak to the final Screentech Wiregrass Classic in Dothan, Ala.

“This has always been a good tournament for us,” Coach Bobby Pierce said. “We have traditionally played well in Dothan. The people and the city of Dothan make this a first class tournament.”

The story so far for the Trojans has been its starting pitching. Troy is giving up just four hits a game while only allowing one run per contest.

“We are not hitting the ball like I think we should be right now,” Pierce said. “Our pitching is keeping us in our games and as long as they keep throwing like that, we can afford to not have such a great day at the plate.”

The Trojans will play Penn State tonight at 6 p.m. Troy is 1-1 all-time against the Nittany Lions.

Troy will turn right around and face Wake Forest in a doubleheader Saturday afternoon. So far this season, Troy is 2-0 in doubleheader games.

The classic will wrap up Sunday afternoon with the final contest between Troy and Kennesaw State. Troy beat the Owls 3-1 Tuesday afternoon.
