TROY, Ala. - The Troy Trojans return to the court after a 10-day hiatus to face Spring Hill College tomorrow afternoon, before hitting the road for a five-game stretch.
Troy (2-4) is looking to end a three-game losing streak, by a combined 17 points, and will look to win their 12th game of a lopsided series with Spring Hill (3-5) when the two teams take the floor at Trojan Arena.
The Trojans are coming off of losses to Richmond and Akron at the Doubletree Classic (hosted by UT-Chattanooga) and a home loss to Kennesaw State on December 3. Prior to those three games, they reeled off consecutive wins against Austin Peay and Jacksonville State - both members of the Ohio Valley Conference.
Sophomore Donette McNair leads the way for Troy, averaging 14.5 points and 9.5 rebounds per game. She is ninth in Sun Belt Conference in scoring and is third in rebounding, starting the first five games of her collegiate career this season. McNair posted double-doubles in her first four starts this season, and narrowly missed another against Kennesaw State as she finished with 20 points and seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Kylie Morrissy is second on the team in scoring at 13.5 points per game, and ranks 12th in the conference in that same category. She is also sixth in free throw percentage (.763), 11th in assists (3.00), fifth in steals (2.17), ninth in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.13) and eighth in minutes played (34.00).
Spring Hill is led by forward Keisha Forbes, averaging 14.8 points and 7.7 rebounds per game. She is the only Lady Badger averaging double figures coming into the contest Saturday.
The Trojans have controlled the series against Spring Hill since the two teams started playing in the 1970s. Troy leads in the series 11-2, but the two teams have not met since November 23, 1984 - a game in which the Trojans won 65-62 on a neutral floor. Troy is 4-1 all-time against Spring Hill at Trojan Arena, and won 10 consecutive meetings in the series from December 2, 1976 until February 13, 1981.
After the game on Saturday, the Trojans will board a bus en route to Atlanta for an early-morning flight to Washington, DC where they will face George Washington on Tuesday night. That marks the first of five consecutive road games. After the game against GWU, the Trojans face Middle Tennessee and WKU on the road to open conference play next weekend, before traveling to the Battle at the Border Classic hosted by UTPA after Christmas.
The game against Spring Hill is set for 2 pm at Trojan Arena. For ticket information, contact the Troy University Athletics Ticket Office at 1-877-878-WINS.
