CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - The Troy University women's basketball team returns to action Friday night against RIchmond at the Doubletree Classic. Game time is set for 5 pm (EST) at The McKenzie Arena, on the campus of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
Troy (2-1) is in the midst of a two-game winning streak, defeating Austin Peay on the road last Friday and Jacksonville State at home Tuesday night. Sophomore Donette McNair leads the way for the Trojans, starting two consecutive games and recording back-to-back double-doubles. She is averaging 10 points and nine rebounds per game through three games this season, while senior Kylie Morrissy is also averaging in double figures.
Meanwhile, Richmond (4-0) comes into the game on a four-game winning streak, and have balance on offense with seven players averaging seven or more points per contest. The closest margin that the Spiders have played this season has been 14 points for the Atlantic-10 member insitution.
"Richmond is a good team," Troy coach Michael Murphy said. "They will do things offensively that we have not seen from any of our opponents all season. This is a great tournament to be playing in, you have four mid-major conferences represented. You have a very good Richmond club playing, a perennial NCAA Tournament team in Chattanooga and an Akron team all here this weekend."
Live stats will be made available for each game of the tournament, and the games can be heard locally in Chattanooga on WDOD-AM 1310.
