Trojans Open 2008-09 Campaign Tonight

ATLANTA - The Troy University women's basketball team opens their season tonight on the road against Georgia Tech at Alexander Memorial Coliseum.
The Yellow Jackets finished last season with a 22-10 record and its second straight NCAA Tournament appearance, and tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday night. Georgia Tech has won 20-plus games and played in the NCAA Tournament in back-to-back seasons for the first time in school history. Tech welcomes back nine letterwinners from last season's team and adds five freshmen to the mix as they look to make history once again.
Meanwhile, Troy, who closed out 2007-08 with a 13-18 record and was 5-13 in the Sun Belt, returns eight players from last season's squad. Troy also welcomes seven newcomers to its 2008-09 roster. They are led by a trio of seniors offensively, including Sun Belt Conference Third-Team Preseason selection Kylie Morrissy who was the second-leading scorer and the leading rebounder on last year's team. Senior Larelle Roper led the Trojans in assists last season and is in the Top Five all-time at the school, while senior Danielle Realph is one of the leading three-point shooters at the school in her career.

Due to the parking restrictions for the men's game, women's basketball fans should utilize Peter's Parking Deck anytime after 5:00 p.m.
