Trojans To Take on Georgia Military In JV Game

While it may be an off weekend for the Troy University football varsity, that does not mean the Trojans won't be in action on the field.

While the varsity continues preparation for Tuesday's Sun Belt Conference game at Florida Atlantic, the younger members of the Troy squad will take the field at Movie Gallery Veterans Stadium on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. in a junior varsity game against the team from Georgia Military College in Milledgeville, Ga.

Georgia Military, which plays a junior college schedule, is 3-1 on the season. The Bulldogs won their last outing, at Louisburg College in North Carolina, 55-9. Their only loss on the year came against Navarro Junior College in Texas, 25-13.

The Trojans will be led by quarterbacks Tanner Jones and Levi Brown on offense. Both have seen action in two games this year in a backup role. Brown has completed 8-of-12 passes for 64 yards while Jones has completed 6-of-12 for 53 yards.

Junior running back Fernandus Edwards, who had a strong showing in the win over Alcorn State, will be the primary ground threat while Jones and Brown will be looking to freshmen receivers Chip Reeves, Rob Byrd and Willie McDowell, among others.

Defensively, the Trojans will be led up front by sophomore Daniel Orr and junior Jeremy Hawkins, freshman linebacker Rod Winston and senior defensive back Rod Foster.

The Troy squad will be coached by the programs' graduate and student assistants, led by Sean Reagan and Josh Pruitt on offense and Andy Johnson and Caleb Hendrix on defense.
