Rudolph Second after Day One of Tiger Track Classic Heptathlon

AUBURN, Ala. -- Junior Juzil Rudulph is in second place after the first day of heptathlon at the Tiger Track Classic, winning the shot put and finishing second in the other three events.
Rudolph earned 3,132 points, just 89 behind Penn State's Gayle Hunter, who had 3,221. She threw the shot 11.51 meters (37-feet, 9.25-inches), best among the seven competitors. Her second-place marks included 14.43 in the 100-meter hurdles, 25.67 in the 200-meter dash and 1.62 meters (5-feet, 3.75-inches) in the high jump.
Tomorrow's events include the long jump, where she set the school record last weekend, the javelin throw and the 800-meter run.
Other Trojans in the event included Erin Clymer and Megan Young, who are sixth and seventh, respectively.
On the men's side, the first five events of the decathlon were held on Friday. Mike Conley is sixth among the 14 entrants with 3,413 points. His best finish was third in the long jump, while he was fourth in the shot and sixth in both the 100- and 400-meter dashes.
The only other competitions on Friday were the hammer throws. Ryan Baker finished 14th with a throw of 45.98 meters (150-feet, 10-inches), with Michael Heck, Ryan Schmeling and James Hargreaves finishing 17th through 19th, respectively. Monique Jordan was the only female thrower to record a distance, finishing 21st at 44.18 meters (144-feet, 11-inches).
The remaining multi events start at 11 a.m. tomorrow with the individual field competitions. Running events begin at 1 p.m.
