Troy Splits With Georgia State

ATLANTA, Ga. - The Troy softball team split with Georgia State on Wednesday winning the first game 8-3 but fell in the second 6-0.
In game one, Troy (30-10) scored eight runs on 13 hits with senior Brooke Powell leading the way. Powell went 3 for 4 with two RBI and scored a run.
Also adding assistance in the first game was junior Jessica Lyle, sophomore Felicia Hammer and freshman Rocky Paige who each posted two hits. Hammer hit her fifth home run of the season against the Lady Panthers.
In the circle for Troy, Paige posted the win as she allowed just one run and three hits in five innings of work. Paige improved to 7-2 on the season.
Troy scored four runs in the fifth to take a 4-1 lead on hits by Hammer, sophomore Heidi Johnson and Powell.
In the seventh, the Trojans added insurance runs as they scored four runs on hits by Lyle, Paige, Powell and freshman Brittney Robinette.
Georgia State (24-18) took game two as it came out of the gate strong scoring six runs on nine hits.
The Trojans were only able to post two hits in the game as Lyle and Hammer each singled.
Sophomore Heather Rush took the loss in the circle for the Trojans as she gave up four runs on four hits in three innings of work.
Troy will be back in action on Friday, April 6 when it plays host to conference foe Florida Atlantic in a doubleheader at 4 p.m. Admission to all home softball events is free.
