Troy University senior pitcher Clegg Snipes was named the Sun Belt Conference Plitcher of the Week for his efforts this past week on the mound.
A Tallahassee, Fla., native, Snipes threw a complete game shutout win against Arkansas State. In the win, Snipes gave up only three hits and did not allow a runner to reach base in the first three innings. On the night, he struck out six Indians hitters on 97 pitches. ASU did not have a runner pass second base in the game.
"Clegg threw a masterful game," head coach Bobby Pierce said. "He located his pitches all night and we are very proud of him"
With the win, Snipes improves his record to 3-4 with a 4.82 ERA. He is scheduled to pitch Friday night against Louisiana-Monroe.
The Sun Belt Conference honor is the second for a Trojan player this season. Senior Clint Robinson was named player of the week earlier in the season.
