Bentley comes to Troy after spending the 2005 & 2006 seasons as the Associate Head Soccer Coach for the men and women at Delta State University (NCAA Division II) in Cleveland, MS.
Prior to his coaching appointment at Delta State, Bentley served as the Assistant Men's Coach for the 2004 season at Ripon College (NCAA Division III program) in Ripon, WI.
At Delta State, Bentley helped lead the men and women to dramatic improvements. The 2006 season saw records broken in virtually every category on both sides.
Aside from his coaching duties at Delta State, Bentley served as a staff coach for the Chicago Fire Juniors of Mississippi coaching players around the Delta.
He was also on staff with the Mississippi Olympic Development Program where he had the honor of coaching state, regional, and national pool players.
Bentley has recently completed the USSF National B? License and the NSCAA National Goalkeeping Diploma (level III).
His playing career includes stints with professional youth teams in Europe, UW-Oshkosh, and the Wisconsin Rebels.
A native of Canada, Bentley earned his bachelor's degree in psychology and philosophy from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and is on the verge of completing his master's degree in health, physical education and recreation from Delta State University.
I am extremely excited to be a part of a staff that is so supportive and forward-thinking,? said Bentley. With our outstanding facilities and exceptional staff, there is no question that this program will achieve success in the near future.?
Bentley's duties with the Trojans will include recruiting, camp management and scheduling along with other responsibilities.
Head Coach Diana Niland feels Bentley will bring many great qualities to her staff.
I am excited to bring Chris Bentley into our staff. He has coaching experience on the college, Olympic Development Program, and club level, in addition to a strong playing background. He is someone who has the personality and character to help us continue to grow as a program and pursue our goals,? Niland said.
Coach Bentley's philosophies are very much in line with mine. He will work hard, be a ??team player' and expect a consistent level of excellence from himself. I have no doubt that he will motivate and encourage players to demand the same of themselves, on and off the field.?
