Round One of the USTA Tennis Classic Completed

No. 2 seed Ashley Harkleroad of the United State received a scare in the opening round as she fought back from one set down to defeat Agnes Szavay of Hungary 6-7(2), 6-3, 6-3.
No. 3 seed Milagros Sequera of Venezuela advanced to the second round after Olga Panova of Russia retired due to injury 6-2, 4-1 ret. inj.
Both the fourth and fifth seed singles advanced on into the second round with straight set wins.
The No. 2 seed doubles duo of Maria Fernand Alves and Angela Haynes will move on as they defeated Heidi El Tabakh and Svetlana Krivencheva by scores of 6-3, 6-2.
Second round action will begin Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Lunsford Tennis Complex.
