Trojans Sweep To Labor Day Tournament Crown

Leah Tenney and Eliza Zwettler both had double-digit kills for the Trojans. Bridget Reidy had a new season match high of 27 digs.
"We expected a battle against the Indians," interim coach Michael Izumi said. "I told the team they needed to learn to finish games and today's result showed their resolve.
"We handled the ball well late in the game and, along with our digs and serves, it contributed greatly in our win."
Freshman setter Meghan Washlow was named tournament MVP. Sophomore Bridget Reidy took home the award for top Libero in the tournament while sophomore Eliza Zwettler and freshman Leah Tenney were named to the All-Tournament team.
"Our toughest competition was the Indians," Tenney said.
Sei Hee Hwang and Lindsey Ehlert both collected double digit digs for the Indians. The Indians finished the tournament with a 4-2 record for the season.
The Trojans improved to 4-1 after the win against its Sun Belt Conference rivals.
Next week the Trojans travel to El Paso, Texas, to face New Mexico State (2-0) in the Sun Bowl Invitational in Friday's early game. The Trojans face UTEP (5-0) later that evening at 7 p.m.
