Assistant Coach Mike Floyd

The newest member of the Troy coaching staff, Mike Floyd, joins the Trojans after spending the last two seasons as a graduate assistant coach at the University of Alabama. While working on coach Mark Gottfried's staff, Floyd assisted with on campus recruiting and was a part of teams that earned the first No. 1 national ranking in school history, and that also reached the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament.
Prior to his stint at Alabama, Floyd spent two seasons at Spring Hill College where he worked with the post players and also served as recruiting coordinator and academic supervisor. The team at Spring Hill made a pair of Elite Eight appearances in the NAIA Tournament and captured two league titles.
A native of Mobile, Alabama, Floyd started his playing career for the hometown South Alabama Jaguars where he played for two years before transferring to Murray State. At USA he started 17 games as a freshman and averaged 7.7 points per game. He saw action in just 21 games as a sophomore, and started only six before leaving to play for Gottfried at Murray State.
While at Murray State he saw action in all 33 games in both his junior and senior seasons. He helped the Racers to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances and records of 29-4 and 27-6 during his two years.
As a prep star at McGill-Toolen High School in Mobile, Floyd was a first team All-State selection and averaged better than 21 points per game as a senior.
Floyd is the son of James and Mary Floyd of Mobile. He received his bachelor's degree in Sociology from Murray State in 2000.
