Troy Athletics Hands Out Top Honors at Fourth Annual Trojan Tribute

TROY, Alabama – Troy student-athletes, administrators and coaches joined together Wednesday night in Trojan Arena to recognize the best Troy Athletics has to offer both on the field and in the classroom at the fourth annual Trojan Tribute.
Awards were handed out in 17 different categories ranging from strength & conditioning honors, to top grade-point-averages and #OneTROY Team of the Year. The awards, which were based on the 2017 calendar year (Spring 2017, Fall 2017, Winter 2017-18), were voted on by members of Troy's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and the Trojan Tribute Senior Voting Committee.
The premier individual award of the evening, the Trojan Way Leadership Award, was presented to softball senior Cassidy McDilda, who is currently serving as the Troy University Student-Athlete Advisory Committee President.
Top academic honors went to track & field's Erika Kulp and Zachary Bias, while softball earned the Female Team GPA Award and cross country took home Male Team GPA honors.
For the second straight season, the football team took home the #OneTROY Team Award after winning the Sun Belt Conference championship, knocking off No. 22 LSU and setting records in a 50-30 victory over North Texas in the New Orleans Bowl.
Record-setting men's basketball senior Wesley Person was named the Male Athlete of the Year after he capped his four-year career by breaking the Troy scoring record and the Sun Belt record for most career 3-pointers. After earning All-Sun Belt honors and leading Troy in wins, women's tennis senior Sanae Ohta was named the Female Athlete of the Year.
