Troy Ready for Redemption Against UAB

TROY, Alabama- Troy softball (23-17) looks to use its momentum following a conference series sweep over Appalachian State in a rematch against the UAB Blazers (15-24-1) on Tuesday, April 10 at 6 p.m., at Mary Bowers Field.

The Trojan offense produced 10 home runs, three from junior Stephanie Snyder along with two each from Kaylee Hussey and Brooke Echols, one of which was a grand slam from Echols, as Troy outscored the Mountaineers 37-14 over the weekend. The squad totaled 34 hits, 36 RBI and 70 total bases in the series.

Annie Willis earned the first win in the circle, but it was Peyton Glover who led the Trojans on the defensive side of the ball. Glover picked up the win in Troy's run-rule 15-2 victory and returned in game three to work Troy out of a seven-run deficit as the Trojans swept the series with a narrow 9-8 win.

UAB made the trip to Troy earlier in the season and faced the Trojans during the Troy Classic. The Blazers came out on top 1-0 on a two –out solo home run from Analyse Petree in the first inning.

Sophomore Destini England leads the Blazers at the plate, posting a .416 average with 57 hits and 24 runs. Freshman Emily Katchel has been the ace in the circle, working a 2.84 ERA through 125.2 innings pitched. She has struck out 87 batters on the year.

Troy looks to improve on a 16-12 all-time record against the Blazers. The Trojans' last win against the in-state rival came in 2016 as they defeated UAB 4-2 in Birmingham.

Logan Calhoun leads the Sun Belt with 38 runs scored and ranks second with 17 stolen bases.
Annie Willis remains third in the league with a 1.85 ERA. The freshman ranks second only allowing 78 hits. She has struck out 83 batters this year, placing her right below Glover who is sixth in the conference with 86.
Troy ranks second in the Sun Belt in runs scored (201), hits (306), and RBI (182), while they lead with 55 doubles and are fourth in the Sun Belt with 30 home runs.
