Trojans Prepared for Sun Belt Finales

TROY, Alabama- The Troy women's tennis team looks to stay hot in the final two conference games of the regular season. The squad will make the short trip to Atlanta to take on Coastal Carolina and Appalachian State on Saturday and Sunday, April 7 and 8. First serves are set for 2 p.m. and 8 a.m. CT.

The Trojans are coming off two big home wins as they swept Alabama A&M on Senior Day and wrapped up home play with a convincing 6-1 win against Alabama State.

Seniors Sanae Ohta, Nancy Karaky, Efriliya Herlina and Jiayuan Xue paced the way alongside freshman powerhouses Maria Casas Blas, Matea Mihaljevic and Pei Ju Hsieh.

Karaky and Herlina both have 18 wins on the season in singles play, while Ohta and Karaky have racked up 17 doubles wins. Hsieh leads the team undefeated at 3-0 in Sun Belt play.

The last time the Trojans faced Coastal Carolina, Troy knocked the Chanticleers out of the 2017 Sun Belt tournament, earning a 4-2 win over fifth-seeded Coastal.

The Trojans' last meeting against Appalachian State was during the 2016 season. Troy defeated the Mountaineers 4-2 behind wins from then sophomores Sanae Ohta and Nancy Karaky.
