4/5/2018 11:57:00 AM | Track & Field
Live Results (ECU) | Live Results (Bama)
TROY, Alabama – Troy outdoor track and field will divide and conquer this weekend to take on the Bill Carson Invitational in Greenville, N.C., and the Crimson Tide Invitational in Tuscaloosa.
The Bill Carson Invite, hosted by East Carolina, will kick off at 9 a.m. and Alabama's Crimson Tide Invite is set to start at 3:30 p.m.; both will begin with the hammer throw event.
Troy has experienced widespread success in recent weeks, with several individual and relay team wins, while many others set personal-bests.
Athletes to watch at ECU are led by Kewin Delis, who is competing in three different events – the 100-meter dash, 200-meter dash and the 4x100-meter relays – and Riley Schwietz who will compete in the javelin, long jump and 100-meter hurdles. Jared Hayes joins Delis on the relay team and will also race in the 400 meters.
A couple of powerhouse veterans will pace the Trojans on the field side in Jaevyn Wortham and Indiya Summerville in the discus and shot put, respectively. Summerville owns the top spot on both the indoor and outdoor school record books in the shot put.
Competitors at Bama include distance runners Daniel Glick, Sawyer Sprung, Kristyn Guirey and Christie Caruana.
Notable
• Five returning Trojans have NCAA postseason experience entering this year. Junior Hakim Montgomery has earned a trip in each of his first two seasons.
• Troy indoor track and field placed fifth at the conference championships in February, tying for the highest finish in program history – finished fifth twice before.
• No days off. The Trojans will compete in at least one meet each weekend from March 17 until the Sun Belt Outdoor Championships in San Marcos, Texas, May 11-13.
