Tennis Ready for Run in Sun Belt Tournament

TROY, Alabama- The No. 1 seed women's tennis team sets its eyes on a conference title as it travels to Peachtree City, Ga., to compete in the Sun Belt Tournament. Troy (8-10, 4-2 SBC) earns a first round bye and will advance to the quarterfinals on Friday, April 20 at 8 a.m.
The Trojans will face the winner of No. 8 Louisiana and No. 9 Georgia Southern, neither of which Troy has faced this season.
Troy finished the season on a five match winning streak and earned Sun Belt wins against Georgia State, UTA, Coastal Carolina and Appalachian State.
Senior Efriliya Herlina has led the efforts this season for the Trojans, posting a 20-12 overall record, and going an undefeated 4-0 in conference play. Freshmen Pei Ju Hsieh and Matea Mihaljevic have each picked up a team-high nine wins in dual-match play.

NOTEWORTHY
- This is the first time in program history that Troy has been selected as a one-seed.
- Head Coach Rawia Elsisi earned Sun Belt Coach of the Year honors for the first time in her career. Elsisi has been at the helm of the Troy tennis program for the past five seasons.
- Four seniors, Sanae Ohta, Nancky Karaky, Jiayuan Xue and Helina lead the Trojans alongside freshmen Hsieh, Mihaljevic and Maria Casas Blas.
- Troy defeated Georgia State this season for the first time since at least 2004.
