KENNESAW, Georgia – Eva Fabricius-Bjerre fired her first career round under par and Troy posted the fourth-best score on the course in Tuesday's final round of the Henssler Financial Intercollegiate at the Pinetree Country Club.
Fabricius-Bjerre carded four birdies en route to shooting a 1-under 71 and the Trojans finished the day at 8-over to move up a spot into seventh place on the leaderboard. The round was Troy's fourth best of the season and best of the spring, while Fabricius-Bjerre's round was Troy's fifth under par this season.
The Troy freshman made the turn even after a pair of birdies and two bogeys on the front nine. Her card stayed that way until the par-4 sixth where she dropped her third birdie of the day to move into red. Fabricius-Bjerre shot 6-over – Troy's third-best score of the season – for the tournament and finished in 11th place overall.
"She had a really good week," head coach Randy Keck said. "Today's round was a lot of fun to watch as she came out of her shell a little bit. Eva struck the ball really well and made a bunch of quality putts."
Troy's three-round total of 915 – its second best of the season – continues a trend of playing better down the stretch for the Trojans. Troy shot a 923 last week at the 3M Augusta Invitational, which was the Trojans' third-best score of the year prior to this week's number.
"We've been improving and getting better each day," Keck said. "We've done a good job of identifying where our main weaknesses are and really spending quality practice time on improving those areas. We are a very good ball striking team, and as we continue to improve our putting and gain confidence, the end of the season should be fun."
Bianca Lohbauer recorded her third top-25 finish of the season as she tied for 23rd place after closing out the week with a 1-over 73. Lohbauer carded four birdies on the day and played in the red for almost one-third of the round; she finished the tournament at 11-over.
Lindsey Harrison added a birdie as she tied for 37th place overall following a 77 on Tuesday, while Antonia Poate carded a pair of birdies and shot 6-over to finish in 39th place. Sarah Harrison rebounded to shoot 3-over with a pair of birdies in Tuesday's final round to climb into 40th position. Playing as an individual, Bria Jansen tied for 48th place after shooting 10-over in the final round.
No. 19 Kent State outlasted No. 40 Ole Miss and No. 43 Kennesaw State to win the team title. Troy's late rally pulled the Trojans within just two shots of Virginia Tech.
