Trojans Set for Non-Conference Doubleheader at Southern Miss

TROY, Alabama – After falling to Georgia Southern by just one run in its last two games, Troy (14-8, 1-2 SBC) looks to bounce back with a midweek doubleheader against non-conference foe Southern Miss (10-16) on Thursday. Game one of the doubleheader is set for 3 p.m., and game two will begin at approximately 5 p.m.

Troy enters the match up after going 1-2 in the conference opening series against Georgia Southern. The Trojans took game one 6-3, but dropped the final two games by just one run each as the Eagles claimed the series victory.

The top of the lineup has been the most productive for Troy as Katie Webb, Logan Calhoun and Madeline Porter have accounted for almost half of Troy's hits (69-152) on the season. Webb leads the team with .377 average at the plate, with four home runs and .623 slugging percentage.

In the circle for the Trojans, Annie Willis and Peyton Glover are both top-10 in the conference with Willis holding down the top spot with a 1.42 ERA. Through 44.1 innings of work, She has hurled 41 strikeouts, and has only allowed 10 runs this season. Glover comes in sixth with an ERA of 2.36 with a 5-1 record and 44 total strikeouts.

On this date last year, Troy hosted the Golden Eagles. The game remained scoreless through six and a half innings. A base hit put a runner on for Stephanie Snyder in the bottom of the seventh. Snyder blasted a two-run shot over center field as the Trojans took the 2-0 walk-off victory.

- The Trojan defense has gotten off to a hot start, posting the seventh best fielding percentage in the nation and the best in the Sun Belt (0.983). Troy is also 13th in the country with 0.55 double plays per game, leading the conference in both categories.
- Logan Calhoun leads the Sun Belt with 20 runs scored, while Katie Webb is fourth in the league with 18 RBI and sixth with .623 slugging percentage. Webb also leads the Sun Belt turning nine double plays so far this season.
- Â Troy has out-scored its opponents 96-61 and is 13-2 when scoring first.
- Head coach Beth Mullins is just three wins shy of notching 100 career wins, all with the Trojans.
