MACON, Georgia – The Troy women's tennis team (2-7) dropped a close 4-3 match to Mercer (7-6) on Monday at the LeRoy Peddy Tennis Center.

In doubles play, duo Sanae Ohta and Nancy Karaky picked up their third dual match win of the season, defeating the Bears 6-1 on court one. However, Mercer earned the next two wins on courts two and three, 6-1, 6-3 respectively, to take the doubles point and a 1-0 lead in the match.

In singles action, Matea Mihaljevic evened up the match with a quick 6-0, 6-0 win on court five over Lucia Gutierrez. Jiayuan Xue, Nancy Karaky and Pei Ju Hsieh went the distance with thee sets, but only Xue could pull out the win, defeating Marie Mottet 3-6, 6-3, 6-3.

Efriliya Herlina continued to lead the team notching her fourth dual match win of the season with a 6-1, 6-4 defeat over Celine Schepers, giving the Trojans their third point but Mercer pulled ahead to take the match.

UP NEXT
Troy will continue its road swing as it travels to Texas to take on Conference opponent UTA, before traveling to Dallas and Denton to face SMU and North Texas.
