Troy Adds Alabama State to 2017 Football Schedule

TROY, Alabama – Troy finalized its 2017 non-conference football schedule with the addition of Alabama State, both schools announced Wednesday. It will be the 16th all-time meeting between the two schools and first since 2006. Troy will host Alabama State on Sept. 9, 2017, in Veterans Memorial Stadium.
"This is a game that makes sense for both schools," Troy Interim Athletics Director Sandy Atkins said. "We had an outstanding crowd the last time we played Alabama State and I wouldn't expect anything less for this game. Anytime we can schedule non-conference games with in-state teams, it is great for the region and great for the state of Alabama."
Troy's 2017 non-conference schedule now features home games against NC State and Alabama State and road contests at Boise State and LSU.
The previous meeting between the two schools, a 38-0 Troy win, drew 26,265 fans – the second largest crowd in Veterans Memorial Stadium history at the time and currently the third largest. It was the first game between the two since Troy moved up to the Football Bowl Subdivision in 2001. Troy and Alabama State played all 10 years (1991-2000) the Trojans were a member of the Football Championship Subdivision (formally I-AA). The Trojans have won 10 straight games in the series with the Hornets dating back to 1992.
Season tickets for Troy's five home games this season, as well as tickets for away games, are available for purchase online, via telephone or in person. Season ticket prices start as low as $50 for general admission seats and $100 for reserved seats.
