Trojans Take Nine Wins in Final Day of Coach “O” Invitational

TROY, Ala. – The Troy track and field team took home nine first place finishes at the second day of competition at the Coach "O" Invitational at Troy University.
"We saw numerous good performances today for our final meet of the regular season," said head coach Jill Lancaster. "It was a time to recognize our seniors and we are very proud of each and every one of them and the way they have represented Troy University and our athletic program.
"We are always proud to represent our University and program at home. We appreciate Coach O's sponsorship and all our officials and volunteers who make it happen."
Benjamin Martin brought in two first place finishes in both the men's 100 and 200-meter dashes, including breaking his own school record in the 100-meter dash at 10.26 seconds. Martin is currently ranked second in the conference in both events. He is currently ranked 23rd in the NCAA in the men's 100-meters.
The Trojan men's 4x100-meter relay made up of Martin, Jordan Landburg, Phillip Pritchett, and Thaddeus Curtis won with a time of 40.36 seconds, a new season-best for the Trojans. The team was ranked nationally, as well as fourth in the Sun Belt before today's meet.
The men's 4x400-meter relay team of Cameron Rice, Chaun Lynn, Landburg, and Curtis also placed first in their relay with a time of 3:17.28.
Benjamin Martin brought in two first place finishes in both the men's 100 and 200-meter dashes. Martin is currently ranked second in the conference in both events. He is ranked 23rd in the NCAA in the men's 100-meter, however today's time of 10.26 in the event set a new season best for Martin.
Thaddeus Curtis finished in the top spot in the men's 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.62 seconds. Curtis is ranked first place in the conference and 45th in the nation in the event.
In the field events, the Trojans picked up four first place finishes in women's discus, men's discus and shot put, and men's high jump.
Thrower Corina Cox won the women's discus competition with a 48.06-meter throw. Cox is ranked third in the Sun Belt and 69th in the nation in the discus throw. She also finished fourth in Saturday's women's shot put. Most recently, Cox has been honored with a national U20 top-10 ranking in the women's discus.
Zach Douglas' 49.18-meter throw earned him first place in the men's discus. This is a new season-best throw for Douglas. He also finished the men's shot put in first place with a 17.01-meter throw. Douglas is currently ranked fourth in the Sun Belt and 49th in the NCAA in men's shot put.
In the men's high jump, Delonte Martistee placed first with a 1.82-meter jump and a new-season best record. Martistee also finished third in the men's triple jump.
Jordan Landburg placed second in the men's 400-meters at 48.19 seconds, followed closely by Chaun Lynn at 48.62 seconds.
Paige McMillian and Taylor McDonald had outstanding performances for the Trojan women on Saturday. McMillian finished third in the women's 100-meter dash with a time of 12.21 seconds, setting a new season best time.
McDonald completed the 400-meter hurdle in second with a time of 1:02.09 and the 100-meter hurdle in fourth with a time of 15.10 seconds. Both are new season records for McDonald.
Julia Ostendorf finished seventh in the women's 800-meter run. On Friday, Ostendorf completed the women's 3000-meter steeplechase in 11:11.08, a new season-best. She is ranked seventh in the conference in the race in the women's steeplechase.
Tim Bulger placed fifth in the men's 1500-meter run with a time of 4:08.11.
Myles Charley completed the day with two second-place finishes in men's long jump and triple jump. Charley's 7.17-meter jump in the long jump, and 14.90-meter performance in the triple jump are both set new season-best records.
On Friday, Samuel Johnson finished third in the men's pole-vault. Demetris Elia came in third place in the men's high jump, while Daniel Dent placed third in men's long-jump. Mikayla Hodges is now credited with first place in the women's 10,000-meter run.
The next time the Trojans will compete is at the Sun Belt Outdoor Championships in May in San Marco, Texas.
