Brandon Lockridge Signs with Troy Baseball

TROY, Alabama – Brandon Lockridge (Pensacola, Fla.) signed his National Letter of Intent on Wednesday to play baseball for Troy University, head coach Bobby Pierce announced. He will join the team in 2016.

"Brandon emerged late in the recruiting process, but his explosiveness and athleticism are two qualities that stood out immediately in our evaluation," assistant coach Mark Smartt said. "He can run and has the ability to hit, steal bases and defend at a high rate."

Lockridge has played the last two seasons in the Pensacola Catholic infield and was a member of last season's FHSAA stat runner-up team. Lockridge batted .358 and scored 35 runs, while leading the team in triples and was second in stolen bases as the squad's leadoff hitter.

"He comes from an outstanding program at Pensacola Catholic that wins every year and plays the game the right way," Smartt said. "He's an outstanding student and quality young man that fits into our program very well."

In the summer, Lockridge plays for the Upstate Mavericks baseball program and competed in the prestigious Florida Diamond Club Tournament. He is also a Pensacola Catholic Student Ambassador, member of the Fellowship for Christian Athletes and National Honor Society member.
