TROY
2011 Record: 7-4
Last Time Out: L (2-3) vs. Eastern Kentucky
Head Coach: Sonny Kirkpatrick (Sixth Season)
The Trojans enter after playing five-set matches in three of their last four contests. Troy posted a 1-2 mark last weekend at the Owls Classic hosted by Kennesaw State. Troy defeated the host Owls but fell to UAB and Eastern Kentucky. Prior to the trip to Kennesaw, Troy took a five-set match from Georgia State in Atlanta.
In that match, sophomore Courtney Cohen broke her own single-match school record with 35 digs. In last week's four matches she posted 98 total digs and was named the Sun Belt's Defensive Player of the Week.
Cohen enters Tuesday's match as the Sun Belt's leader at 5.26 digs/set.
Also on defense, senior Brittany McClelland sits fourth in the league at 1.08 blocks/set. Her 40 total blocks lead the Trojans and bring her career total to 235, the fourth most in school history.
Offensively, four Trojans average over 2.00 kills/set with Kayla Pickart (2.89) and Breanna Cullity (2.82) both in the Top 10 in the Sun Belt. Devin Von Pingel's .353 season attack percentage ranks as the third best in the league.
ALABAMA A&M
2011 Record: 3-10
Last Time Out: L (0-3) at Miami (OH)
Head Coach: Nedra Brown (Fifth Season)
Series Record: Troy leads 11-2
The Bulldogs are coming in after a 1-2 showing at the Miami Best Western Invitational last weekend in which they defeated Florida Gulf Coast.
Alabama A&M is the perennial favorite in the SWAC as they have represented the conference in the NCAA Tournament 10 times now, including four years in a row.
The Bulldogs are led this season by Karensa Beckford who averages 3.98 kills/set and hits at a .235 clip. On defense, Audrey Harris leads the way at 3.17 digs/set.
Troy is 6-1 at home against Alabama A&M and 11-2 overall since joining Division I. The two teams met last year in Huntsville with the Trojans winning, 3-1.
