Another School Record Falls

Sophomore Cody Bahrke became the third Trojan to break a school record this year
TROY, Ala. (TroyTrojans.com) - For the third time this year, a record has fallen in the sport of track and field; and for the third time this year, the record fell in a throws competition.
Earlier this season, Martins Pildavs (javelin) and Eddie Lynn (discus) broke school record; but on Saturday it was sophomore Cody Bahrke breaking one of his own in the hammer throw.
The sophomore had a previous personal best of 50.62 meters (166-01.00) in the hammer, almost three meters shy of the school record held by Ryan Baker at 53.04 meters (174-00.00). However, on Saturday on his home surface at the Coach O Invitational, Bahkre shattered his personal best and flew by the school record held by Baker, when he recorded a throw of 55.45 meters (181-11.00) in the competition.
"The young kids on this team work hard," assistant coach/throws coach Chip Brundage said. "To see them come out and break school records like they have this season speaks volume of their work ethic, and what they have been able to accomplish since they got on campus."
The Trojans are off until Saturday when they will compete in a dual meet with South Alabama and Birmingham Southern in Mobile. The team will then be off for two weeks before competing in the Sun Belt Conference Championships in Murfreesboro, on the campus of Middle Tennessee.
